Doesn't hurt to be nice... |

In my organization someone got promoted to a high level, VP and they don't even have a college degree (one is in process though). Also the VP titles are handed out here in such a manner that those of us who are VPs feel that the title has no efficacy any more.
Its because our general manager said once he doesn't feel that advanced education (i.e., an MBA) is necessry in financial services. DUH. Its just an ongoing pattern of being out of touch with the times.
Now the question: If I feel that the promotion is not warranted or deserved should I still congratulate the promotee or stay silent?
Any comments are welcome.

This is always nice to congratulate the person who has been promoted. Degrees are great and very valuable. However, many people outhere, without degrees, had earned the right to be promoted based on their hard work and results. I alos know of many MBA's that do not know how to write a business letter or lead a meeting.
