In Reply To: A friend of mine is a junior person in a bank branch. Every week a combination of higher-ups/coworkers try to rally sales by expecting employees to bring in food for their co-workers (10+) people. This seems to me unfair, bordering on ridiculous. I've heard of pot lucks once or maybe twice a year (I don't work in banking), but every week? It seems like an unreasonable financial demand on employees and an unreasonable demand on their off-hours to do this every week. If one doesn't participate they look like they aren't a team player. The branch doesn't really have a manager and at least one of the other employees has changed customer's paperwork (falsified) to increase their own sales levels. These pot lucks are all about "team" and "sales" but I would think the company should be maybe buying people lunch if they want to reinforce teamwork every week. Why doesn't management buy a pizza once in a while? What can be done about this? Is it a big mistake to just say no, I won't participate? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thank you!
Message: ??Why buy a cow when milk is free??? Your company does not spring for lunch because you are supplying in out of your own pocket. And you can certainly count on the fact that, if you do not contribute, it will come back on you. Added to the fact that you are in company that tolerates dishonesty in sales reporting and I would recommend you get your resume out as quickly as you can.
