In Reply To: I am working for a multinational company as an HR Assistant for the last 8 months. I have problems with my boss, such as communication issues (i am not well informed at all on anything that's going on in the company). During the last months my boss did not give me any orientation, i took on recruitment without even knowing the different departments in the company and so on. As a result, i was not too busy as you might guess and this created a bad impression about myself in the company and more importantly to the general manager!. My boss just quit. I could have been promoted if the general manager thought well of me. Now i remain in the same position with probably a new boss and with the general manager thinking that i am at least lazy. How should I act now? Any ideas? Please help out if you can think of an action plan, as i am in a really bad situation... Thanks!
Message: Well since you mentioned that your boss just quit it tells me that there is already a problem of some sort within that company. Now you could deal with this matter in a number of different ways - You could just level with the General Manager and tell him or her the truth about the communication problems that you were having and that you would like to be able to do a better job if someone would help you become more informed since you did not have any orientation whatsoever since you first started working there. (There is no excuse for their lack of communication - this is NOT your fault it is theirs!) Now how can one expect to do a proper job if one is not given what is necessary to do the job? Now you could also since you are getting a new boss just go along with the way that they tell you that they would like to run things....then it is up to them how you work. Or you can spend your time doing your own research in the company....can you not spend time speaking with the various employees or divisions of the company, or obtaining any written info about them. Do your own research as if you were a detective. I know that this lack of proper communication is a rampant problem nowadays which really should be addressed! I think if I was you I would just level with them since it really is a problem that THEY are responsible for!
