In Reply To: I am working for a multinational company as an HR Assistant for the last 8 months. I have problems with my boss, such as communication issues (i am not well informed at all on anything that's going on in the company). During the last months my boss did not give me any orientation, i took on recruitment without even knowing the different departments in the company and so on. As a result, i was not too busy as you might guess and this created a bad impression about myself in the company and more importantly to the general manager!. My boss just quit. I could have been promoted if the general manager thought well of me. Now i remain in the same position with probably a new boss and with the general manager thinking that i am at least lazy. How should I act now? Any ideas? Please help out if you can think of an action plan, as i am in a really bad situation... Thanks!
Message: I too am in an uninviting situation where vital company information is not relayed properly, to anyone. This creates chaos when action is needed, and usually due yesterday, in addition to creating an environment where secrecy is power. As I do not have the solution to better communication between myself or a president, I do suggest this stepping back and analyzing where you can strategically align yourself to invite information from your employer. To admit to not knowing all departments within your company, and in the same breathe expect a promotion when one is presented - seems foolish and might have something to do with the opinion held of you in your office. Take advantage of the holiday spirit that so often improves everyone's mood and make a great impression on your superiors - implement something useful, give credit to others publically and privately... good words travel fast, and so do the impressions they make! Best of Luck!
