I believe that if the workplace is to be truly equal, employers must develop and use mutually beneficial professional development programs. I recently published an article on this in the Spring, 1999 issue of Women In Leadership - Sharing the Vision. It talks about women who are 'on top' mentoring upwardly mobile female professionals. Likewise, I believe that men could also benefit from such programs. Believe me, when it comes to money and power, the male ego is as nasty as the female ego. When people behave inappropriately, confront them and begin a journal - you never know when documentation will come in handy. Then focus on yourself - if you are professional and do not stoop to games and bad politics, poeple will respect you - a necessary factor if you plan to move up.
