so what value do you feel IB provides for my goals to get into VC? I would do consulting if it were a top firm, but since my offer is from Monitor, I'm leaning towards an IB offer from a top bank and combining that with more strategy/operational experience later dwon the line. |

Let me clarify one thing further, which I did not find in Vault anywhere.
Where do you want to fit in in a VC, as partner, associate partner, or analyst.
If you want to join in as a partner, there are mutltiple ways:
1- Partner with a focus on sourcing deals, negotiating, and closing the deals.
Whats important here is Partner would not be able to source the right deal without a help from
a-research analysts (i.e. Telecom analysts).
b-Financial experts (to structure the deal and close it)
Therefore, if a partner is from IB background, usually he works in close contact with another partner who has corporate background.
One partner is always dynamic with industry and corporate knowhow, another partner is process and procedure oriented and he could come from IB background. Without the dynamic partner, VCs will never get quality deal flows.
