In Reply To: Thanks, The firm is in LA. Can't say if they are big or small, they don't list anything about portfolio companies on the web site (I guess that is the answer). Interstingly enough I saw a second job ad posted with a different company name, but the same email. I was ok with doing the original work (after which and interview was supposed to be arranged according to their email), but when they asked for more I got concerned and decided not to pursue it further. Maybe I would have continued if they were a firm I could dig up some info about them. I guess I could have also passed up a great job as well.
Message: google is often a good source for background on vc firms. To find out what they've been up to and who they're connected with just search for the firm's / gp's name. There are other more detailed resources available too, but a good rule of thumb is to know something about a firm's background and portfolio before investing any effort. VC is a reputation-driven business and this is not a good time to join fly-by-night organizations.
