In Reply To: Is it really possible to break into the VC industry without an MBA from Harvard/Wharton and Experience at top consulting firms? Its seems like most VC Partner resumes fit this profile. I have a MBA from a top 10 school, plus MS in Engineering from top 10 school, not to mention significant industry and start-up experience. Is this enough, or is the name brand experience more important?
Message: If you have significant startup experience, a VC would have approached you about working for them. There are a lot of top 3 MBA's in VC, but the most common track is still: Start a company. Make a VC rich. Do it a second time. Wait for VC firm to invite you to join. Most people are independently wealthy before they ever become VCs. Look at Ray Lane.
