In Reply To: Thank you for the clarification. I totally can identify with your snapping off; I've read stuff that just makes me say, "What the f*&@ is this person talking about?!?!?" I myself am not into the status quo either. I'm currently trying to find a way to transition into VC from biotech lab work, and am finding it increasingly difficult. Hence, I'm having to be increasingly imaginative and "innovative." I truly resent the preconception that unless someone comes with Ivy League credentials, they're not getting anywhere. However, it does exist, and knowing that helps me "innovate." I also do my own research and post what I know, though I'm sorry to say I don't know much. I'd like to hear more about your project concerning innovation; you can post here or email me at dumars20@lakmail.com Thanks again.
Message: Sad thing is mate that all the world works on networking. As reviled as it is, look around you. The weak get the job becasue of 'Ivy League' schools, connections, or money. I left Australia because I thought it would be different here. It is, its not classe orientated its a snobbery built around schools, frats, and of course family. God forbid you advance due to effort and success! Meanwhile every Harvard grad I have met (except one) has been a networker not a learner. There is a great mis perception regarding Harvard, its not a hard school nor particularly enlightening in the MBA stream - BUT IT IS AN AMAZING network set. Nearly every night you can go to a function and 'meet' the right people. Now is a poot time to get into VC Land so think about something productive and go do that.
