Message: Hey - I'm sick of browsing the bios of VC & private equity folks and seeing, "Graduated Summa Cum Laude with an MBA from Wharton". I've got a BS Finance & an MBA with decent grades (3.4) - not from Tuck or Wharton or Kellogg - just a regular accredited school. I also have 4+ years at a mutual fund company (operations) and 2+ years at a telecom strategy consulting company - where I've had experience creating large financial models. I feel I have enough of a financial background and telecom knowledge (startup & legacy companies) to get into a telecom VC. Agree or disagree? If you disagree, what am I missing? A technical degree? More telecom experience? Any advice/comment would be great. Thanks - SlackerJoe
