Because of sheer luck and by networking I landed
a summer internship at a small, privately owned vc
firm based in Manhattan.
What's unusual is that:
1. I'm a Hispanic female (43 years old)
2. I'm an undergrad (senior) at NYU's Stern School
of Business
3. My majors are in marketing/ management
4. My financial knowledge/skills are relatively weak
So, it's true what they say:
it frequently takes luck, networking and charisma
(many say I have that) to get inside a vc firm.
I also started a small business in the early 90s.
I hope to test the vc waters and improve/work on
my financial knowledge/skills and see if I want to
enter this career. |

You're an inspiration, you know. I'm 42 and trying to do something like you're doing...get into a certain field without a related degree or direct experience but with the right attitude and applicable work skills.
I'm a girl but I have balls, brains, and a can-do attitude. Sounds like you do, too. Good luck!
