I am an executive looking into the possibility of working for a VC or Investment banking company as a hired gun.Basically, I would be sent into recently acquired companies withe the mission to either get them properly launched or to turn the business around. At the end of the assignment, I would then move to a new challenge. I would have total respponsibility or be assigned to a ceo as the COO . I understand from other contacts that such positions exists and are referred to as " Portable Executives" .
Can anyone verify this as a regular practice and do you have any contacts or suggested ways to find contacts ? |

Many VC firms retain or keep a roster of execs and lower level folks to jump into early stage scenarios. Most do not advertise it. Exceptions are Austin based AVLabs who have a program, of fellowships, associates and consultants for all levels and types of talent.
I run a Seed Stage consulting service for young companies. We establish a 'beachhead' in their chosen markets from which these companies can then grow. I'm always looking for good experienced talent at senior levels who want to work on a contract basis upto a max of 90-180 days.
