I am involved in Sr. Secured Debt financing transactions. My work involves due diligence, underwriting, legal documentation of the deal and finally, monitoring performace of the company and the loan. In my previous job, I have worked at a small company in BD, Strategy & M&A. Can this help to get into a VC firm?

Sounds like you were on the Portfolio and Underwriting staff at Commercial Finance. As a CF employee I'd be curious to see what sort of reception you get from the VC shops.
