Hi
can anybody give me a short list of b-schools that gives one the best shot at a PE/VC firm? I already know about Harvard and Stanford but am enquiring about Wharton, Columbia, Sloan and others.
Please accept my thanks for any guidance |

believe or not, besides the obvious Stanford/Harvard, UCLA is a good choice. They place around 5 to 10% of the class into VC/PE, lately closer to 10 to 15%. Its a smaller class, but that percentage ranks them up near the top schools.
This is partly due to a strong effort starting around ten years ago to place people in west coast PE/VC firms to bolster its enterprenuerial program and its presence with LA VCs (like brentwood associates)
But outside of Stanford/Harvard, if you don't already have something strong to bring to the table, a degree is not going to get you in the door.
Also, looking at a lot of PE sites, I see lots of Columbia grads in PE (later stage obviously)
