I have 2 years in tech research in a top Wall-street firm, and am looking to move to a more challenging job on the primary side, with the ultimate destination being the VC business. Would my chances of getting into a top-tier VC improve if I (1) went to a smaller VC shop now, or (2) go to work for the business development/strategic planning division of a tech company first?
