In Reply To: I know that the economy is not at the top of its game, but I am looking for a change after a year from now. By that time I would have 1.5 years of auditing expereience and 1 year in business regeneration/bankruptcy experience. Also I will be a CPA and hopefully be a CFA level III candidate. My goal is to do something different for about three year before I pursue the MBA. I was thinking PE/VC or even join an incubator group. Does VC/PE look for undergrads? Plus if things do not flow in the U.S. for me, will I have better chances in Europe? And how do I go about finding leads in Europe? Thanks
Message: As in any profession, to get in to the venture capital world (in the US or in Europe), you need to be opportunistic. Venture firms do not post "help wanted" ads. For you to find any opportunities, you need to begin networking within the Venture Capital circles. Private equity and venture capital conferences are a good start, but may be expensive for an undergraduate to attend. Experience, on the other hand at one of the venture capital portfolio companies may be a solution that you may want to pursue. David Starr
