If it's really true, if I was his boss, I would have fired him too.
If you read his email, refers to Carlyle as a "buyside" firm. As is well known, Carlyle is not an buyside (ie, investment management) firm but a LBO shop.
Besides being a message of exceptional crudity towards women, Mr. was apparently unaware that his firm, being composed of former Washington politicos, could not afford to be associated with a message of such piggishness if any of its partners wished to return to politics. |

LBO shops and private equity firms in general are correctly termed buyside.
Also, the Carlyle group does have interests in investment management. For example, Afsaneh Beschloss the former chief investment officer at the world bank recently signed on to manage their asset management group.
