Message: Next year I will be graduating from Cornell and I would like some advice on the venture capital industry. I am interested in breaking into it, but I am not sure how best to do that. Let me tell you a little about myself. Currently, I am a rising senior with a 4.0/3.9 GPA. I am a double major in Biology, with a concentration in biotechnology, and in Policy Analysis and Management, with a concentration in healthcare. I have been told that this is perfect coursework for someone who wants to get into biotech venture capital. In addition, I will complete college (freshman through senior year) in only two years (I took a very heavy course load during the school year and have taken classes for the last two summers). This summer I am interning in a biotech startup, where I am working on business development and marketing. This has been an amazing experience and I feel that I can contribute what I am learning now and what I have learned at Cornell to a private equity firm. Knowing a little about my background, would it be possible for me to land a position in PE? What about incubators - are there jobs available in business development or marketing for undergrads? Also, do you know of any specific PE firms or incubators that higher undergrads? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at csjaramillo@hotmail.com Thanks, C.S. Jaramillo
