What are the different financing stages that PE/VC firms invest in?
And where does the Mezzanine stage fit in?
Also, I noticed that ranking of PE firms a few posts back. At this stage I'm just trying to familiarize myself with this sector, can you please just list more PE firms, besides the aformentioned(don't have to be the "top tier") Just want some names so I can check out there websites and do my own research.
I'm sorry, just one more question. What groups in IBs are best to be in if you are certain you eventually want to go into PE?

Where do other companies stand or what are they classified as?
I wanted to know about firms such as Safeguard Scientifics or P Early STage Partners.
They say they aren't VC firms, but in essence seem to perform as such, while holding onto their investments in firms for a longer time then a regular VC fund.
