I am also facing similar issue, only I already have a job in a different sector.
I'm part of finance team at Cisco's Asian subsidiary. I am in a supposedly special program meant to train college recruits to produce future leaders for this company, in which we are exposed to accounting (9 months) and financial analysis. I expect to gain a lot of international experience as well.
The prob is I am rather disapppointed with the work. It's simple, repetitive, slow and i get the feeling I haven't learned anything of much value to this day(5 months). Perhaps because I am in entry level acct'ng and because we are a subsidiary.
What i can't decide is whether it would be better for me to leave now or later after the rotation program and MBA. Do you think I would have a better chance of getting into tier 1 VC (or for the matter i-banking/ consulting) if i have such background compared to starting off as an entry level at a small, new VC?
And in terms of being accepted to top ten MBA schools would it be better to stay with Cisco or working for a small and
rather new VC as an analyst?
Also what do people think of Newbridge Capital?
