In Reply To: It's good that you have strong religious values and I admire that. But I don't think you should mix religion and the workplace. They are separate parts of your life. And does the Koran actually say you cannot take part in such transactions?
Message: Muslims are not supposed to give or receive interest, it's seen as usury. Some people say that activities in the business world are indirectly related to partaking in interest-based transactions. They feel that you may not actually be controlling how interest is handled but you are calculating how someone else can use it. Others say that since you're not involved in the interest-based activities first hand then your line of work is permissible. I wasn't thinking of completely mixing religion and work as in forcing my beliefs on others. Rather, I was hoping to get some guidance on how the VC industry related to my beliefs.
