I screen early stage deals for a group of angel investors and consult to start-up CEOs. We're generally too early stage to co-invest with institutional money, so I don't get to interact with very many people in the VC industry and would like to get a better sense of what kind of deals everyone else is seeing. We tend to source from the same people/institutions and sometimes I think the environment is so insular that we could easily miss some major trends in the investment community. There's a "Young Venture Capitalists" group (or so i hear) on the west coast that functions like a YPO or YEO for analyst/associate level VCs. I was thinking of starting something similar in NY - an organization where those of us that have to wade through mountains of business plans every week could meet to swap war stories and talk about what's going on in the industry. Preferably over drinks. Anyone interested? |

Yes, I'm interested. Contact me. samir.sharma@home.com. Did you try www.NYNMA.com and some of the other forums in the city as well? They are also a good source of what's happening in emerging technologies. I find the NY investment scene to be too insular or biased towards media and entertainment companies. For example you don't see a lot of deal in optics, software, infrastructure being done on the east coast. But yes, I'm interested in starting something. We could even formalize it.
