Industry/market knowledge is good. Valuation skills sound good on paper but anyone who's ever closed an early stage investment knows that valuation is an art. Don't lead with that as your "value differentiator", stress your industry contacts and knowledge - you'll have a strongeer position when you interview. |

buyside analyst should be good intro, but shy away from the valuation expertise. All PE/VC firms will show you their way to value firms. What they all want are specialists who know an industry inside and out.
