I am new to the whole VC arena so I am hoping for a little guidance from you guys...I always read that a VC has just recently closed a $X fund..What does it exactly mean when a VC "closes" a fund? Thanks

Most VC funds are "committed" funds. The money is called down from the limited partners as the firm makes investments. Total fund size refers to the aggregate commitments.
