In Reply To: I think it's fantastic and insprirational that women are starting to be recognized as some of the greats in Venture Capital. I know Ann Winblad has been mentioned, and I've read great things about Heidi Rosen as well. (SOFTBANK Venture Capital w3.svbc.com, also see her indepth personal website at w3.heidi.rosen.com.) The question I have is how to you 'break in' to a Venture Capital firm? I have been a senior level executive in 3 high tech startups (including the founder position) and I am very interested in getting involved with a Venture Capital firm. Has anyone else made this transition? Any helpful hints/mentors?
Message: Kate, Yours is one of the best paths to VC. Most good VCs come from an operational background in tech and it seems you have this. Also, you mention some founding experience which to a VC is a great asset as you are familiar with problems that new companies face on a day-to-day basis. For you perhaps the best way to get into VC is to work your network, having founded a company I'm sure you've run into some VCs with whom you can network and get some job leads. Good luck
