I suggest you consider putting your skills to use and gaining some work experience to complement your academics.
VC/PE are both very hands on and experience driven. Otherwise you'll just find yourself chasing a MBA later because of a breadth of skill deficiency. |

Thanks for the responses!
Currently, it looks like I'll be getting a doctorate in optical networking at Oxford.
The thing is, when operating experience is considered to be important, does that refer to me working for somebody else? Or can that also mean successfully running your own company?
The reason that I am asking is that I am in the process of starting a P2P info-marketplace company (has angel funding) as CEO. This (hopefully) should help me get some real operating experience.
