I will graduate in May 2001 from a top tier b and law school. I then plan to work at a white shoe law firm in NYC for a couple of years. Ultimately, I "think" I would like to work in VC. My question is, should I first switch to Ibanking from law, then to VC or attempt to go straight into VC from law? Also, would it be more beneficial to do either law or ibanking in Silicon Valley if that is where I would like to do the VC work eventually? |

Stop being so risk averse. Get your hands dirty ! If you want to gain the respect of people in Silicon Valley - ditch the "white shoe" mentality and embrace the technology culture. If you want to close M&A deals and be a waterboy in the real game - stay in NY and work within the comfort of the I-banking world. Respect is earned out here.
