I have built a startup software company here in Australia which is still going and growing. It is profitable but still small. We haven't sought VC yet but Australian VCs here tend to invest in companies at a later stage than in the US. I have been exposed to all the issues - marketing, finance, technology, employment - that you can imagine I would be in a growing company. I also have a law degree and have worked at a large firm here. My question is - if I was planning to join a U.S. VC firm in a few years time, is an MBA a prerequisite? I don't plan to take 2 years out on an MBA (when I could be furthering my business) but a part-time program might help for both my business and a possible VC career in the future...
