From reading some of the messages on here there appears to be a negative outlook on consulting. I will be graduating next year from a Penn State (strike 1 I guess) with a double major in Finance and Biotechnolgy. Right now I'm doing the look for a summer internship thing. I would like to get in to venture capital a couple of years down the road and feel that it would allow my to combine my interests in both finance and science.
Prior to reading some of the messages on here I felt that consulting was probably the way to go to get into venture capital at some point. What would be a better path? I would like something that would allow me to use my science knowledge in some way. Would doing research at a IB be better? or would doing some sort of basic finance stuff at a biotech/pharma company be better?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks.
