In Reply To: Look, kiddies, pretty much every VC firm has at least one lawyer. Some were STARTED by lawyers (Bay Partners - John Friedenrich). You want to make it into VC quick? Uncle AG gives you the plan (make sure to steer some favors in my direction once you're on Sand Hill, OK?): 1. Work for one of the following law firms, preferably in transactional in their Palo Alto/Menlo Park offices: Cooley Godward Wilson Sonsini Gray, Cary Venture Law Group Fenwick & West Gunderson Detmer less good: Brobeck Phleger Morrison Pillsbury Madison (don't work for Pillsbury) Brown & Bain Only one other law firm will work as well: Testa Hurwitz in Boston If you can get a job with a white shoe securities firm (esp. in the Silly Valley offices) that should work too IF you work with tech clients. 2. Work there at least two years. Go to the right parties and meetings. Make sure you butter up every VC you meet. Preferably, you should try to get a VC as a roomate. 3. You'll be slipped the contact info for recruiters who handle VC searches. OR one of your VC buds will say "Hey, do you know anybody who'd like to join us at Faltulus Ventures?" or "Hey, my pal Sam or Jill is starting up a new shop, she's looking for...." and away you go.
Message: Could you expand on these places that do VC searches? I qualify on every one of your criteria.
