Trying to land a job in VC as a professional right out of undergrad is generally a bad idea. Go get some operating, entrepreneurial, and/or financial experience first. VCs do not normally have "entry level" positions (a few might).
Most VCs successfully bring together several disciplines to make judgments about potential companies. They have an innate/intangible skill for doing so. This later part is the most important and can only be assessed through your track record and experience.
It seems very shortsighted to go directly into VC (b/c its hot). Bring something solid to the table (its not day trading or consulting). If you are really really good it will be waiting for you.

I don't quite agree that it does not make sense to enter a VC in an entry level position. The difficultiy is only that there are very few opportunities for this. But if you could get a entry level job at a reputated VC (such as assistant to partner), it definitly brings you much closer to becoming a VC (partner) one day than starting as thousand others in ibanking or consulting but not being able to make the jump into VC.
