In Reply To: I was previously a Principal at a smaller, early stage VC, and just landed a Principal position (with the full support and blessings of my previous General Partners) at a significantly larger, also early stage VC. It is up to me to determine my start date, but I am aiming for late July. Therefore, I will have a little time here to answer any legitimate questions ... although I do plan on going on vacation to relax and celebrate! Before you ask, I will not answer questions that require me to identify me or my new firm ... to protect the innocent. The ZIP code in my profile is fictitious, though my educational background is not. Good luck to all job seekers!
Message: Hey Defiance, I'm in the same place you were before you made the move: I'm a Principal at a smallish VC ($200mm under management). Unfortunately, the GPs have decided not to raise another fund and I need to make a move. I'm assuming that the best way to find a new position with a bigger fund is to work through my VC network. Alas, since we're not winding down for another few years, I don't want to under-cut my current fund by doing this. I haven't found search firms or online job boards to be particularly useful in the past when looking for more senior VC positions. What did you find to be the richest veins of job leads? How did you end up finding your new job? Thanks!
