There could be many reasons why there aren't many posts from U employees. I think most likely is Vault is for those seeking outside info, while many U's are content to stick to the inside -- not a bad commentary on working here.
I've been with U for 2.5 years and have had a pretty good ride. Left dead-end job at IBM BCS after 6 yrs there, to be hired at U for $20K more and 2 levels higher. Been promoted once, and received bonus 1 out of 2 yrs.
The consulting situation is similar in IBM and U -- struggling with legacy HW reputation, trying to break into services, hard to create brand recognition in this area.
Culturally, I've always been treated with respect, have a great work/life balance, and like the people in the office. The techies love what they do, and are good at it. The consultants have a hard time selling pure consulting gigs (I work in Pub Sector).
I recently left the consulting group to join the Six Sigma Lean program, focused on making internal improvements. Its true, our bus ops could use a lot of help, but U has hand picked good folks to make that happpen.
Watch U over the next year. I'm hopeful stock will rise, and so will morale. |
