The UBS LA office is a smaller group of bankers, so it is a pretty tight knit group. The bankers there are very good guys and are enjoyable to be around. Expect highly technical interviews. They could ask you questions pertaining to a number of different topics. Know your accounting well (how changes will flow through all the financial statements), obviously know the different valuation methods, brush up on LBOs (what makes a good candidate, etc.), and don't be surprised if you get some mental math type questions. |

What groups are the strongest in NYC? I've heard good things about healthcare and M&A. When going through PE recruiting, which group has historically placed better? I've heard that with HC, you will work on numerous deals but they will be much smaller in size. Whereas, in other industry groups such as Consumer, you may get a blockbuster deal like P&G/Gillete. Is it better to work on more smaller deals or fewer big deals? I'd assume M&A is a strong group to be in as the analysts will develop stronger technical skills. Also, how is the fin. sponsors group in NYC? Would appreciate any comments. Thx.
