I'm sorry, but this topic is too interesting to remain quiet.
The article lacks one important fact, as is the actual workin hours per week.
I'm from Colombia, where you work 48 hours a
week (without considering extra hours), or one day
more per week than Americans do. It means that, taking
the 2 mandatory weeks for vacation (That very often
are reduced to one), a Colombian worker goes to his
job 50 days more than his american counterpart.
The math is not that simple, as -Colombia in
particular- has many holidays, but the balance is the
same: You guys don't work much more than people in
other countries, and sometimes you work less.
And those numbers are NOT reflected on the gross
domestic product. |

I don't know where you get your figures, but I challenge you to find a single American professional who is able to work less than 48 hours per week... I think you will find 50 to 60 is more the norm, and some people actually work upwards of 80 hours a week.
