diversity training is clearly a legal dodge for corporations,
i have been through them, and even when they are sincere, they are obviously BS.
one time I had it with some very smart people. For fun, everyone took the devil's advocate, and argued against diversity to mess with the guys giving it.
The level of sophistication of these programs is very low, and tend to be extremely politically correct.
I don't like bigots, but I don't like thought police either. Its a good thing they are a joke, because otherwise I would change their name from diversity training to "brain washing"
change society, start at a young age and start with your own kids.
If you are diversity trainer, keep comfort to know you are doing nothing but providing legal protection for your employers and no one but guilt ridden goody goodies takes you seriously. |

Diversity Training is not about changing people's thoughts regarding other people. Short and sweet Diviersity Training is about creating an atmosphere in which the designed task of a company can be completed with effecieincy and equitity. Meaning.
Someone will think what they want to think - but checking those thougths at teh door is a must when working n an environment that is changing becuase the economic market is changing. Comapnies that make the needed changes will survive those that don't will lose. Plain and Simple.
Diversity and diversity training is a bottom line issue. It's about making money. AS demographics change, so do markets. As the companies go more global so do their markets. Those who want a piece of that pei will get rid of those who do not respect others, employees and customer, and the best talent will congrgate to the more progressive companies.
As far as diversity training if its "Feel Good" fluff then that's all it will be. If it cause you to think about your behavior int he work place then it has been successful. You don't have to change your personal opinons, just respect the opinons and abilities of those with whom you work.
