am enrolled in a Masters Degree program in Science and Technology Management (MSTM) at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles.
The program is unique in that we are not required to write a dissertation; however, as the equivalent I have the task of a Technology Management Project (TMP). The TMP distinguishes the MSTM program from other master??s degree-granting executive programs. Each student must select a specific management challenge and ?? in close interaction with a faculty adviser ?? pursue in-depth analysis and original research in the field.
The TMP provides the opportunity to integrate management perspectives, quantitative techniques, and qualitative approaches learned throughout the program.
The challenge I have selected, which, I hope, will ultimately lead to a published article in a peer-reviewed journal, is:
??Innovation within a Knowledge Management System??
I hope to explore the restrictions, if any, that a Knowledge Management System imposes on an organization??s ability to be innovative, that is the creation of new ideas that lead to improved performance, new products or processes.
To facilitate the field research section I intend to survey the Fortune 100. The survey is web based and I anticipate it will take 20 minutes to complete. The survey explores the human side of a knowledge management system and does not address any IT/IS aspects of your organization. If you agree to assist, I will advise you of the URL to follow.
I am therefore asking if you would be willing to assist me in my research. I you are willing to help please reply, once I have a completed set of respondents I will advise you of the web page address that contains the survey. A copy of the finished research paper will be available once I have completed it and will be happy to provide you with a copy should you wish.
