I've got about 10 years experience in Financial Services and currently work as a Business Analyst. Through this position, I've gotten good exposure to Technology project and am interested in jumping to the IT side from the business side for the challenge and the money. I've got an MBA in Fiance and have gone back to complete a dual major in Inofrmation and Communication systems.
The classes have been valuable but will not put me in position for the transition that I want. I'm interested in Database Administration or in becoming a developer.
From the business side I have good experience in IT projects and implementation. How do I get myself to the point where I can apply for an IT job with confiedence that I'll be able to deliver? Can I do it without taking a hiatus from my current position? |

I know of what you speak. I have 40 years experience as an engineer, but have transitioned to my own business, some of which is on the Internet.
Make sure you know your true desires and if IT will accomplish them. I know many IT people looking to transition to another career (which is probably typical of any career - there's always some who want out.)
