I am in the military and will be getting out in the next year and a half. I am looking to be relocating to the RTP for good. I have an Associates in Applied Sciences, Bachelors in Electronic Engineering Technology, and am working on my CISCO certification. What is the job market like down there? I am origionally from Liberty NC, and want to move back home. What will I have to look forward to or do I need to rethink my career choices ? Thanks a whole bunch !!!!! |

The last time we had a recession the job market in RTP was flooded by ex-IBMers who moved down there for the good life and low cost of living.
I suppose RTP is as good or bad as anywhere else right now, because the job market pretty universally stinks.
You have 18 months before you need to venture into the storm, so consider yourself fortunate. If I were in your shoes I would look on Monster.com and perhaps try to get ahold of the sunday edition of the Raleigh paper to look for job ads. Given that national security and the military look to the growth areas now you might want to consider going that direction for now at least.
