I went from military to civilian. I am a West Pointer, have my MBA and PMP, yet I went with several of those headhunters specializing in the military transition. Needless to say, I am in a position that was grossly misrepresented. I am not challenge and desperately trying to find another position. Military headhunters are not in the expertise of placing former officers in technical fields (i.e. signal corps in the Army) |

MW, the civilian job market in telecoms is in it's worst state ever, so both you and I are fortunate to have a job at all. I don't doubt that the position was 'grossly misrepresented', but don't forget that Worldcom is in bankruptcy with many of it's competitors not far behind.
Among suppliers, Lucent (the former Bell Labs) and Nortel are in danger of going under, and overseas huge comnpanies such as Ericsson, Marconi, and Alcatel are also in danger of going down. This is a convulsion the likes of which hasn't been seen for at least a century!
I don't like my job either, but I think we have to understand that we're in the position of the fellow in a hurricane who has a leak in his slickers. It's annoying but there are many people with far worse problems than we have!
