I'm with KPMG UK and we're hiring a few top-notch people very selectively. Usually ex-independent consultants who have worked with us before and want to come in out of the cold.
However it's not a dying field at all! It's a retrenching field with most of our customers being very careful how they spend their money right now. We're getting a lot of small jobs, advisory things, and small & lean systems integration things designed to do current activities more cheaply rather than do anything visionary.
I figure we have a year before things get back to normal, normal being defined as pre-dot.bomb levels. |

When I posted here 10 months ago I was being overly optimistic. It's a little better than it was then but not very much. After going through huge cutbacks we are hiring some people, but not at replacement levels by any means.
Right now it's looking like another year - if then. It is still hard to make money selling telecoms services, which cascades down to service and hardware suppliers.....
