It depends on what you want to do. The short answer is that one MCP certification won't do anything for you. If you are a programmer go for the MCSD, if you are a systems engineer/router jockey go for the MCSE, and if you are a DBA go for the MCDBA.
I'm an MCSD and have almost completed my MCDBA. It has paid off in spades for me.
I work for am IT consultancy that is also a Microsoft Solution Provider. When they hire these certifications are very important to them. Also, I've found that studying for these exams forces you to really understand the technologies you are using.
All other things being equal, I would hire an MCSD/MCDBA/MCSE over a non-certified person in a heartbeat. |

You have to be kidding. Certification means you have to know what you are doing? Horse hockey. It only means you can regurgitate memorized material. Last I checked, there are no practical tests, just written crap. When they start making you prove you can do more than regurgitate what MS says, I'll believe it is any more than some letters.
