I am interviewing for a positions coding at several tech companies. I am also a recreational drug user-- it doesn't effect my work in the slightest, and I would NEVER use drugs during work. However, I don't see any reason why I should stop-- I enjoy it. My question is this: do tech companies test? if so, is there any way I can find out before actually being hired? Moreover, do companies look at marijuana usage the same way that they look at use of other drugs?
Thanks alot. |

Your're walking a fine line. Even lumber yards and markets these days do drug testing before hire. It's a sign of the times, and in my opinion an infringement of privacy, but it's the way things are now. A lot of places also do random drug testing, at anytime for absolutley no other reason than to catch users. I support testing for trying to figure out how an accident happened and to fix the issue, and for other obvious business reasons. Frankly, it's just the way it is, they will test and they will find out, and you will be in deep shit.
