I am currently on a 18 month contract for a high tech company as a QA Technician. My job is not terribly hard, and many times extremely boring and repetiative. I switch between 5 different tests at the drop of a hat, and have to keep up with the news and changes with each test. I am the only employee that works my shift (swing) that switches between so many tests, the rest only switch between 2 tests.
After working for my company for 6 months I had a review. I don't make alot of money only $12hr, but when I took the job I was just grateful to have the work, I live in Oregon and our unemployment rate is the highest in the nation.
At my review I was given a $.50 raise. I expected a $1.00 because my job is so low paying and that is still under a 10% raise.
I would like to ask for more money, but I unsure about asking for more. Since, the market as it is, and since my job is not rocket science or anything terribly complicated.
On the pro side, I am a highly capable employee, I am already trained on 5 different projects and I work swing shift. It has been hard for my company to find people to work swing shift.
Feedback and suggestions would be appreciated.
