I will not work for a company that puts me in a cube. To program I need intense concentration, especially if you have idiots telling jokes and making calls all day - I can't think - and that's supposed to be my job! It's like those people who put dogs in those little kennel cages. Dogs are not meant to be caged and certainly not humans. Bite thier hands off Rover!

I'm a college student who has programmed the last three summers. Two of the summers were in cubicles and one in an office (of sorts). Cubes should surely be declared unconstitutional by way of the 8th Ammendment. They're hell. Both times I've had cubicles, the jackass(es) next to me decided it was their duty to talk far to loudly on the phone all day. As a programmer, I'd rather be able to think than hear Jack talk to his doctor, his travel agent, and everyone else under the sun.
I simply 100% refuse to work in such an environment again unless I'm given a substantial increase in pay to compensate me for the hell I have to go through.
