We're expanding our office environment substantially as we bring on additional programming staff. I'm wondering what the general preference is among folks not in our company re: individual or semi-private offices as opposed to cubicles. Considering both productivity and quality of life, what is preferred by programmers?

I will not work for a company that puts me in a cube. To program I need intense concentration, especially if you have idiots telling jokes and making calls all day - I can't think - and that's supposed to be my job! It's like those people who put dogs in those little kennel cages. Dogs are not meant to be caged and certainly not humans. Bite thier hands off Rover!
