i think that the cheap PCs are out there for people who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford computers. it will actually benefit people, and may eventually lead some kid who would not have been exposed to get interested in computers and high-tech and maybe even save up for a better computer . in the end, i think it's the best thing that could happen to the computer industry. everyone should have access to computers. |

The problems that have been occuring in the hardware industry are a result of the price of computers being cut by about 1/2 during 1998 without a doubling in unit volume. It's tough to take a 50% revenue decline per unit. Cheaper PC's hurt the industry in general and will continue to do so.
