This is hard for me to say but it is all true. I used to work for Target as an executive. I was a Team Leader making a decent salary, but on an hourly basis I made less than the people I supervised.
The job was nothing short of complete hell. I worked an AVERAGE of 60-70 hours a week for a year straight. Some weeks were upwards of 75 hours. Imagine back to back to back 14 hour days. I became a complete zombie and grew distant from my family and friends. I am not joking when I say my life was nothing but eat, sleep(when I could), and work.
The group of executives I worked with were very unhappy about the number of hours we had to work. Over 50% of the executives I workded with ended up quiting. We became very understaffed, leaving those of us who remained to pick up the work of those who had left.
We tried many times to voice our concerns to our supervisors, but they repeatedly did not want to hear it. We were told that those hours just had to be worked. It became very clear that they simply did not care about us and would just as soon hire new people to replace us. Target was so cheap they were not even going to make an effort to help us reduce the number of hours we were working.
Let me make it very clear to everyone that Target does not care about their executives! They do not care if you are working 75 hours a week and burn out! Think very carefully about what you are getting into with this corporation, it lacks ethics with the way it treats it's executives. Yes, the pay is good, but is it worth complete hell?
I have now heard that Target is trying to grow and open new stores and expand but is having trouble filling executive positions. Could this be due to the amount of work(resuling in high hours) that Target piles on it's executives?

What can I expect for an initial salary offer as a Sr Group Leader at a DC? I have an interview with the execs at a DC tomorrow?
