I challenge anyone to name five women or girls of color who have gotten national and prolonged media attention in the last five years after disappearing or being murdered. Go ahead, give it a shot. They can be from any minority group; black, asian, latino, pacific islander, take your pick. I bet it can't be done.
My point: the media only cares when pretty, young white women are victimized. Don't disagree unless you can complete the above listed task.
Think about it: Laci Peterson, Jennifer Wilbanks, Chandra Levy, Natalee Holloway, Elizabeth Smart, the list goes on and on and on and on.
As a black woman it makes me genuinely sad that my life and well-being is valued less than that of my blonde sisters. |

Maybe that whole fisaco turned the media away. If there were some in-justice why haven't we heard from Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson? Don't worry about it. When you go missing, I'm sure there will be a blurb in the paper.
