You haven't been talking with the reporters...and you obviously don't get the station where you are in DC. Number 1 rule for managers, listen to your people, have consistent communication, and be honest. They can then live with any decision that you make. Otherwise, there can be no respect. |

I have seen the newscasts by both. Its funny, it's all a startup and I am sure things are constantly changing, ask anyone who has worked in a startup. Let me tell you the things I am taking back by. 1st of all, who allowed a guy to make all these hires and then he bails out of the company? The ABC station is hard to get but I can tell the CBS booms in here and its painful. Who hired the male morgue anchor with no energy next to a kid, who look like this is her first on air job. And then...a British sportscaster in Central VA??? I mean, I feel like I should be watching the BBC when this guy talks, is that cockney. Its hard to take the guy serious talking about NASCAR and Football (american style) when he sounds like he should be talking about the insurgents in Iraq. I would hope in market 100+ that a News Director would move cameras...be hands on. I am sure the pressure is on from the company to get the thing going. How many people even work in the station, 25 maybe. Sounds like these people are complaining because they have no news experience and these are their first jobs. In real life kids (not like college), your boss will be in your face, demanding progress and hoping you produce. Didn't this station just start in Nov.??? People are already getting raises? Wow in real stations...raises are yearly and after books have established growth. I got to get a job there...You can be awful...british...or lazy and you get a review every 3 months...gotta run..need to send out my resume
